The pouch cannot be applied directly to the skin without the appropriate baseplate.

70mm is the coupling size – not the stoma diameter

The 70mm measurement describes the mechanical connection between:

• The Conform 2™ pouch

• The Conform 2™ skin barrier/baseplate

It does not mean that the user’s stoma measures 70mm.

The actual stoma opening is determined by the compatible baseplate selected.

For example, a 70mm Conform 2™ baseplate may have a cut-to-fit or pre-cut stoma opening substantially smaller than 70mm while still using the 70mm pouch coupling.

Always match:

70mm Conform 2™ pouch → 70mm Conform 2™ baseplate

Do not select the pouch coupling size according to the measured stoma diameter.

Conform 2™ two-piece system

The Conform 2™ system separates the adhesive skin barrier from the pouch.

The baseplate adheres to the skin around the stoma, while the pouch attaches mechanically to the baseplate.

This allows the pouch to be:

• Removed

• Replaced

• Checked

• Changed to another compatible pouch

without automatically removing the adhesive skin barrier each time.

This can be useful where the user wants to reduce the frequency with which adhesive is removed from the peristomal skin.

Mechanical coupling with audible clicks

Conform 2™ incorporates an integrated mechanical coupling system.

When the pouch is correctly attached to the matching baseplate, the system produces audible clicks as the coupling engages.

These clicks help provide confirmation that the pouch has been securely connected.

After attaching the pouch:

• Check that the entire coupling is engaged

• Gently run your fingers around the connection

• Confirm that no section is loose

• Check that the pouch cannot easily detach

Always follow Hollister’s fitting instructions.

Closed colostomy pouch

Reference 27420 is a closed pouch.

It has no drainage outlet.

Closed pouches are generally most appropriate where colostomy output is:

• Formed

• Semi-formed

• Less frequent

• Relatively predictable

When the pouch contains sufficient output to require changing, the pouch can be removed from the baseplate and replaced with another compatible Conform 2™ pouch.

The baseplate may remain in place if it is still secure, comfortable and appropriate to continue wearing.

For frequent liquid output, a drainable pouch may generally be more practical.

Maxi pouch size

Reference 27420 is the Maxi version of the Conform 2™ closed pouch.

Maxi provides greater collection capacity than the Midi and Mini options in the range.

It may be preferred where:

• Greater pouch capacity is required

• Output volume is higher

• A larger pouch is more convenient

• Less frequent pouch changes are preferred

The pouch should nevertheless be changed before it becomes excessively full or heavy.

Beige / opaque pouch

Reference 27420 is Beige.

The opaque construction conceals the pouch contents during normal wear and provides greater discretion than a transparent pouch.

The corresponding transparent Maxi 70mm Conform 2™ pouch is:

AF300™ filter

Conform 2™ 27420 incorporates Hollister’s AF300™ filter.

The filter is designed to allow intestinal gas to leave the pouch gradually while helping deodorise the escaping gas.

The pouch incorporates odour-barrier film designed to contain stoma output and minimise transmission of odour through the pouch material.

The pouch film and AF300™ filter work together:

ComfortWear™ pouch panels

The Beige Ref 27420 pouch incorporates ComfortWear™ panels on both sides.

These soft panels are designed to:

Because 27420 is Beige, both sides of the pouch are covered.

The Conform 2™ closed pouch has an anatomical shape designed to sit naturally against the abdomen.

Belt tabs

Conform 2™ pouches incorporate belt tabs for attachment of a compatible Hollister ostomy belt when required.

An ostomy belt may provide additional support for some users.

Use a belt only where appropriate and according to the manufacturer’s instructions or advice from a Stoma Care Nurse.

Choosing the correct baseplate

Because this is a two-piece pouch, selection requires two separate decisions:

1. Choose the correct pouch coupling

For Ref 27420:

• 70mm Conform 2™ coupling

2. Choose the correct stoma opening and baseplate profile

The separate baseplate must then be selected according to:

• Actual stoma diameter

• Stoma shape

• Flat or convex requirements

• Surrounding abdominal profile

• Skin condition

• Individual clinical needs

Do not assume that a 70mm pouch requires a 70mm stoma.

Compatible flat or convex baseplates

Conform 2™ closed pouches can be used with compatible Conform 2™ skin barriers, including appropriate flat or convex configurations.

The appropriate profile depends on the individual stoma.

A flat baseplate may be appropriate where:

• The stoma protrudes adequately

• The surrounding abdominal surface provides a good sealing area

• Convex support is not required

A convex baseplate may be considered where:

• The stoma is flush

• The stoma is retracted

• The surrounding area dips inward

• Additional support is required to improve the seal

Convexity should be selected according to the stoma and body profile, ideally with guidance from a Stoma Care Nurse.

Attaching the pouch:

Ensure the correct 70mm Conform 2™ skin barrier is securely applied.

Check that the pouch coupling and baseplate coupling are clean.

Align the pouch coupling with the baseplate.

Press the pouch and baseplate together according to Hollister’s instructions.

Work around the coupling until it is fully engaged.

Listen for the audible clicks indicating engagement.

Check around the full circumference of the coupling.

Gently confirm that the pouch is securely attached.

Do not use the appliance if the pouch does not engage correctly with the baseplate.

Removing the pouch:

The pouch can be removed separately from the skin barrier.

Follow Hollister’s instructions for releasing the mechanical coupling.

Support the baseplate while gently detaching the pouch.

Avoid unnecessarily pulling on the adhesive baseplate.

Inspect the baseplate before attaching another pouch.

If the baseplate is:

• Lifting

• Leaking

• Damaged

• Uncomfortable

• Contaminated with output beneath the adhesive

the complete system should be changed as appropriate.

Changing a closed pouch

Because Ref 27420 is closed, it is not emptied through a drainage outlet.

When it requires replacement:

• Perform appropriate hand hygiene

• Detach the used pouch from the baseplate

• Dispose of the pouch appropriately

• Inspect the baseplate and surrounding area

• Attach a new compatible 70mm Conform 2™ pouch

• Confirm secure coupling before use
