AB21 bacteria strains show specific properties on immunity enhancement through a triple mechanism of action:
- Immune cell stimulation; activation of the immune response by direct cross-talk with immune cells
- Enhancement of gut barrier function; synthesis of polyphosphate granules (poly-P), molecules that improve intestinal permeability
- Anti-inflammatory activity; production of acetate and acetylcholine, which balance the inflammatory response in the gut mucosa
