sma First Infant Milk Powder (900g Tub) – Breast milk substitute – suitable from birth (stage 1):
SMA First Infant Milk is suitable from birth if you choose to combination feed with breast milk or if your baby is not being breastfeed.
We all know breast milk is best for babies, but for many different reasons it’s not always possible for all mums to breastfeed. SMA First Infant Milk benefits from over 90 years of experience in advancing baby nutrition, so it has been scientifically formulated to meet the nutritional needs of babies. This means it contains all the vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, to provide a nutritionally complete breast milk substitute for your baby.
Halal approved.
Why SMA First Infant Milk?:
Increased alpha – protein:
Protein is essential for healthy growth and development. Babies grow very rapidly and need a source of high quality protein. SMA First Infant Milk is enriched with alpha-protein, a high quality whey protein.
An improved fat blend:
Fat plays an important role in supplying energy for your growing baby. SMA First Infant Milk contains a fat blend made up of vegetable oils. These oils have recently been enhanced to improve their structure. The aim of this improvement is to give babies softer stools and it may also aid fat and calcium absorption from the milk.
Omega 3 & 6 LCPs (Long Chain Polyunsaturates):
LCPs are important components of cell membranes and play a key role in the development of the brain, eye, and nervous system. Although LCPs can be made in the body, infants have a high demand for these nutrients. SMA First Infant Milk contains Omega 3 & 6 LCPs at levels recommended by experts.
Preparing your baby’s feed – powders.
- Whilst SMA products are made under strict hygienic conditions, they are not sterile. Make sure you follow these instructions on preparation and storage, or you could make your baby ill.
- Wash hands well. Sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers’ instructions. After 6 months, if you are using a beaker it is not necessary to sterilise equipment, though you should ensure everything is fully cleaned.
- Boil kettle filled with fresh tap water. Allow boiled water to cool for no more than 30 minutes before measuring the required amount of water (see feeding guide on can) into the sterilised bottle or beaker, carefully – the water is hot. Do not use artificially softened water or repeatedly boiled water.
- Using the scoop provided in the can, add the correct number of scoops of powder (see feeding guide on can), levelling off each scoop with either the handy built-in leveller in the can (only available on some cans) or with the back of a clean dry knife. Replace plastic lid on can.
- Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle or lid on the beaker and shake well. Cool bottle or beaker under cold running water until lukewarm. Test temperature by shaking a few drops onto the inside of your wrist.
If advance preparation is necessary, consult your healthcare professional.
