Who it is for

For replacing water and body salts lost with diarrhoea. It does not replace urgent treatment for severe dehydration.

Do not use if allergic to an ingredient or if you have a partially or fully blocked bowel. Speak to a doctor before self-treatment if you have chronic or persistent diarrhoea, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, a low-sodium or low-potassium diet, or an intolerance to sugars. Seek advice in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell the pharmacist about all medicines.

How to use

Read the leaflet for your pack. Dissolve one sachet in exactly 200ml fresh drinking water. For infants or where safe drinking water is unavailable, use freshly boiled and cooled water. Do not mix with juice, milk or other liquids, and do not boil the prepared solution.

Adults, including older adults: one or two sachets after each loose bowel movement, each mixed with 200ml water. Children: one sachet after each loose bowel movement. For children aged 2 and below, a doctor must assess the child and calculate the amount. If vomiting accompanies diarrhoea, take small, frequent sips.

Frequently asked questions

Which flavour will I receive?

Select Citrus or Blackcurrant before adding to your basket. Each selected pack contains 6 sachets.

Is Dioralyte the same as Dioralyte Relief?

No. Standard Dioralyte contains glucose; Dioralyte Relief uses pre-cooked rice and has different directions. Do not interchange their instructions.

How much water is needed?

Use exactly 200ml water for one sachet. Too little or too much water changes the intended glucose and salt balance.

When should I seek medical help?

Seek medical advice if diarrhoea is not improving within 24 to 48 hours or sooner if symptoms worsen. A child aged 2 or below needs prompt medical assessment.

Safety and storage

For oral use only. Make the drink immediately before use; discard leftovers after 1 hour at room temperature, or after 24 hours if immediately refrigerated. Store unopened sachets below 25°C in the original pack, protected from moisture. Keep away from children and do not use after expiry. Each sachet contains glucose and approximately 300mg sodium.
