Dermol 500 Lotion is an antimicrobial emollient for dry, itchy skin, including skin affected by eczema and dermatitis. It can be left on the skin or used instead of soap. Pack: 500ml. Suitable for all age groups.
How it works
The emollients soften and moisturise dry skin, helping reduce irritation and the itch-scratch cycle. The antimicrobial ingredients act against bacteria on the skin that can worsen eczema or infect scratched skin.
Directions
Use regularly and as often as needed. Read the enclosed leaflet.
As a soap substitute
Use instead of ordinary soap or shower gel. It does not foam like cosmetic cleansers. After washing, bathing or showering, gently pat dry with a soft towel; do not rub.
As a leave-on lotion
Gently smooth onto affected skin. Let any excess absorb and reapply as needed. Do not rub vigorously. If using another treatment on the same area, use the products separately and allow time for the previous application to absorb.
Ingredients
Active ingredients: benzalkonium chloride 0.1% w/w, chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 0.1% w/w, liquid paraffin 2.5% w/w and isopropyl myristate 2.5% w/w.
Other ingredients: cetostearyl alcohol, macrogol cetostearyl ether (cetomacrogol 1000), phenoxyethanol and purified water.
Warnings and precautions
- Do not use if allergic to any ingredient. Cetostearyl alcohol can cause local skin reactions such as contact dermatitis. Ask a doctor before use if you have known ingredient sensitivities.
- Very sensitive skin should first be tested on a small area, especially the face or young children.
- Avoid the eyes. The lotion can make baths and showers slippery; use care and a non-slip mat.
- Serious allergic reactions, including breathing difficulty or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, require urgent medical help. Stop using the product.
- Keep away from smoking and naked flames. Fabric that has contacted this product burns more easily. Washing clothing and bedding reduces build-up but does not completely remove the fire risk.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
The leaflet permits use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The ingredients have been used widely for many years, although specific safety trials have not been conducted. Ask a pharmacist if unsure.
