One-piece vs two-piece products

Most of the Compact, Lo-Profile, Impression and Moderma Flex products in this listing are one-piece appliances.

With a one-piece system, the:

• Pouch

• Skin barrier

• Stoma opening

form one complete appliance.

The Conform 2™ products are different.

Conform 2™ is a two-piece system in which:

• The adhesive baseplate is fitted to the skin

• A separate urostomy pouch is attached to the baseplate using a mechanical coupling

The coupling size of the pouch and baseplate must match exactly.

For example, a 55mm Conform 2™ pouch requires a compatible 55mm Conform 2™ baseplate.

Choosing the correct product:

Always check:

• One-piece or two-piece system

• Stoma opening diameter or cut-to-fit range

• For two-piece products, the coupling diameter

The listed millimetre measurement does not always mean the same thing.

For a one-piece pre-cut pouch, it generally identifies the stoma opening.

For a Conform 2™ pouch, it identifies the mechanical coupling size, not the stoma diameter.

Directions:

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions supplied with the exact selected Hollister product.

For a one-piece pouch:

Clean and dry the skin around the urostomy.

Prepare the opening if the product is cut-to-fit.

Apply the skin barrier around the stoma and press gently into position.

Ensure the drainage tap is securely closed.

For a two-piece Conform 2™ pouch:

Apply the compatible skin barrier first.

Check that the pouch and baseplate have the same coupling diameter.

Align the pouch coupling with the baseplate and press together until securely engaged.

Check the complete coupling before use.

Emptying the pouch:

Empty the pouch regularly before it becomes excessively full or heavy.

Open the drainage tap over a toilet or suitable receptacle and allow the urine to drain.

Wipe the outlet if necessary and close the tap securely after emptying.

Where overnight drainage is required, connect a compatible drainage bag using the appropriate Hollister adaptor according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
