About Raspberry Ketones
The earliest history of use of existence and use of raspberry ketones is traced back to the beginning of the 18th century. Ketones were discovered by food manufacturers and scientists were looking more into the different components that make up raspberries. They estimated that there were about 200 particles of raspberry ketones in the fruit, hence its definite flavour. The variety of raspberries that are mostly responsible for the production of ketones are red raspberries. Raspberry ketones are also found in smaller proportions in the baby kiwis, brewed coffee, orchid flowers, and yews. Other varieties of berries that contain raspberry ketones include cranberries and blackberries. According to existing records, red raspberries are native to Asia Minor. However, in recent times, the cultivation of raspberry fruits has increased massively in Europe, central Asia, and northern Africa. However, a lot of fruits have to be used to produce a sizeable amount of raspberry ketones, hence the increased popularisation of industrial preparation of the same.
Romans are said to have been the first to use raspberries and also spread the fruits to their countries around Europe. This happened around 5 AD. The English later picked it up from there and came up with intensive ways of cultivating the berries. The berries became a popular trade item as it was a main export product to the United States in the 16th century. After raspberry ketones were discovered, they became a popular additive in various foods and soft drinks. The ketones have also been used quite widely in the cosmetic industries especially for skin and hair. Traditionally, Europeans included the powder in their beauty products as they went to take and beauty pageants and modeling gigs. They also lit candles that had been made using ketones, for the pleasant scent; these were a favourite especially amongst those who engaged in yoga and meditation. To date, most of these applications of raspberry ketones still stand.
