San Pedro is a fast-growing columnar cactus native to the Andes of Ecuador and Peru. It forms tall, blue-green ribbed stems with short spines and, when mature, produces large, fragrant white flowers that open at night. It makes a striking specimen plant for a sunny windowsill, conservatory or greenhouse. These seeds are supplied with no seed coating or treatment for horticultural cultivation, botanical study and educational use.

🔧 Seed Preparation

• No soaking needed — Sow the seeds as supplied.

🌿 Planting Instructions

• Soil — Gritty cactus compost (e.g. 50% cactus compost, 50% grit or perlite), pre-moistened.

• Depth — Surface-sow — press seeds lightly onto the compost and do not cover.

• Humidity — Cover the pot with a clear lid or bag to keep humidity high during germination.

• Germination — Keep at 20–27°C in bright, indirect light; seedlings usually appear in 1–3 weeks.

• Light — Bright light; acclimatise gradually to full sun as seedlings grow.

• Ventilation — Gradually remove the cover over several weeks once seedlings are established.

• Winter — Keep dry and above 5°C.

• Watering — Water when the compost has dried out; keep almost dry in winter.

• Potting on — Move to individual pots once seedlings are 1–2 cm tall.

• Growth — Slow at first; established plants can grow many centimetres a year.
